Taylor Swift Has Generated Equivalent of $331.5 Million For Chiefs, NFL This Season: Report
The love story was lucrative for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce this football season.
The Kansas City Chiefs and NFL as a whole reportedly gained an equivalent brand value of $331.5 million from Swift’s relationship with Kelce and presence at Chiefs games this year, Apex Marketing Group told Front Office Sports.
The Messenger first reported news that Kelce and Swift had been hanging out in September, before Swift made her first public appearance with Kelce and his family at the Chiefs’ 41-10 win against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 24. Swift was frequently shown throughout that game on the CBS broadcast.
Showing Swift during game broadcasts then became a common practice for the networks that carried Chiefs game whenever she attended throughout the season, which also became a point of controversy.
The NFL released a statement to People in October defending the showing of Swift during games.
“We frequently change our bios and profile imagery based on what’s happening in and around our games, as well as culturally,” the league said.
“The Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news has been a pop cultural moment we’ve leaned into in real time, as it’s an intersection of sport and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport.”
Chiefs owner and team CEO Clark Hunt told CNBC that the Chiefs fan base has grown by “leaps and bound” among women after the relationship went public.
“It’s been a very interesting, very fun year having the two of them dating, the attention that’s been focused on the Chiefs,” Hunt said. “Our female audience has grown leaps and bounds.”
Swift is in Baltimore to watch the Chiefs take on the Ravens for the right to go to the Super Bowl.
If Kelce and Patrick Mahomes get the job done and reach the fourth Super Bowl of their careers, then Swift will even reportedly be in Las Vegas to watch that game too, according NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
