Nicki Minaj released a surprise new song in the middle of the most recent tracking period, and it went viral instantly. The rapper dropped “Big Foot” as a reaction to Megan Thee Stallion’s new single “Hiss,” which seemingly references Minaj’s husband in a negative light. While it only had a few days in which to rack up sales and streams, “Big Foot” has become a big and quick hit on a bevy of Billboard charts.
This week, “Big Foot” debuts inside the top 10 on half a dozen different Billboard charts. The track was a smash from the moment it dropped, and it performed very well both on streaming platforms and when it comes to pure purchases.
“Big Foot” launches at No. 3 on the Digital Song Sales chart. That’s the tune’s highest placement on any of Billboard’s rankings that aren’t genre-specific. According to Luminate, Minaj’s latest arrives with 36,753 copies sold.
The track also opens in a lofty position on two of Billboard’s charts that combine hip-hop, rap, and R&B. “Big Foot” is new at No. 10 on the all-encompassing Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs ranking, which includes all forms of consumption. The tune also blasts onto the R&B/Hip-Hop Sales list at No. 3.
“Big Foot” performs similarly well on Billboard’s rap-only charts. The diss track opens at No. 8 on the Hot Rap Songs ranking, which blends radio, sales, and streams to show what rap tunes Americans are listening to. The same cut is new at No. 9 on the Rap Streaming Songs list and No. 3 on the Rap Digital Song Sales roster.
