The Kansas City Chiefs got off to a fast start against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon when Patrick Mahomes hit Travis Kelce with a beautiful pass that scored the matchup’s first points.
After driving Kansas City’s offense downfield on the Chiefs’ first possession, Mahomes took a shotgun snap from the 19-yard line. When he dropped back, he saw Kelce open near the corner of the end zone. Mahomes uncorked an incredible pass that hit his All-Pro tight end in the numbers, and Kelce fell into the end zone with a defender draped on his back.
This play gave Kansas City a seven-point advantage in the first quarter after Harrison Butker nailed his extra-point try.
Efforts like this are typical of Mahomes and Kelce, and with any luck, the Chiefs will be able to continue leaning on their prolific connection to keep them ahead of Baltimore.
