Jaylen Brown of the Celtics receives the ultimate injury update before facing off against the Suns

The Boston Celtics got some murky news ahead of a key showdown with the Phoenix Suns on Saturday. All-Star Jaylen Brown was initially listed questionable for the game with a sacroiliac strain, per the team’s injury report. That is obviously not ideal for a group who just lost two consecutive games against strong competition.

This type of injury deals with the lower back and spine. The sacroiliac joints help the hips move and also settle the body’s weight. Brown had been playing in recent games, so it’s not certain the extent of the injury or when it happened. With all this in mind, Celtics fans want to know if Jaylen Brown will be good to go against the Suns.

There is no need to fret. Brown is available to play in the Footprint Center on Saturday night, according to John Karalis of the Boston Sports Journal. This great news should give the Celtics a much better chance at getting back in the win column.

The 27-year-old has scored 25 points or more in five of his last six games, which includes an extremely efficient 29-point eruption against the Golden State Warriors last Sunday. It remains to be seen how much head coach Joe Mazzulla will lean on him in this one.

The Celtics are first in the Eastern Conference with a 41-18 record. They had been playing some darn good basketball of late but are coming off of back-to-back losses to Denver and Cleveland. The Cavaliers nipped the Celtics in a heartbreaker on Tuesday, and the Beantown ball club is looking to bounce back.

Brown had a 41-point performance in the team’s last game against the Nuggets. He finished with a double-double, also grabbing 14 rebounds. It was an incredible outing, made even more impressive since it seems the guard may have been struggling with this sacroiliac injury.

The three-time All-Star is averaging just under 23 points on the season for the Celtics, and holds a 50 percent field-goal percentage. Jaylen Brown hasn’t missed a game since before the All-Star break (Brooklyn Nets on Feb. 14).

The Celtics tip off against the Suns at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Suns are 37-26 entering the matchup.
