Jack Antonoff compares doubting Taylor Swift’s songwriting skills to questioning someone’s belief in a higher power

Jack Antonoff is a fiercely loyal friend and collaborator of Taylor Swift, and he double dares anyone to question her 14-time Grammy-winning songwriting abilities.

Two years ago, Gorillaz and Blur frontman Damon Albarn scoffed to the LA Times that the 34-year-old pop star ‘doesn’t write her own songs.’

Outraged, Jack took to Twitter to call the 55-year-old Englishman an ‘herb’ and wrote: ‘I’ve never met Damon Albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs Taylor writes and brings in.’

I’m a little b**** sometimes,’ Antonoff told the LA Times on Wednesday.

‘But you come after my friend Taylor, you’re toast to me. [That] is like challenging someone’s faith in God. You just don’t go there.

Damon decided to ‘apologize unreservedly and unconditionally’ after Taylor tweeted: ‘I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f***ed up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.’

Albarn made headlines again last December for criticizing the Rolling Stones’ ‘horrible music video’ for their song Angry starring the ‘objectified’ Sydney Sweeney.

The 10-time Grammy winner – turning the big 4-0 next month – originally met Swift in 2012 and they first collaborated on her track Sweeter than Fiction for David Frankel’s biopic on Britain’s Got Talent champ Paul Potts called One Chance.

Jack went on to write and produce songs on the blonde billionaire’s albums 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), 1989 (Taylor’s Version), and Midnights.

It’s unclear if Antonoff was involved with Taylor’s surprise 11th studio album Tortured Poets Department, dropping April 19, which she announced onstage the 66th Grammy Awards.

‘Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney… what a whirlwind of endless magical moments with you,’ Swift tweeted of her Australian leg on Wednesday.

‘I’m so grateful that we got to be the first tour to play Accor Stadium 4 times. I’ll never forget singing with Sabrina, the chaotic acoustic mashups, and the crowds that were louder (singing AND screaming) than I thought humanly possible. I want to thank all of the Aussie fans for being so positive and passionate, so funny and wild and FUN. Love you forever!’
