Since his entrance to the league, Phoenix Suns‘ Kevin Durant has been heralded as the most talented scorer in our game today. His combination of length, skill, and toughness makes him a top all-time NBA player and it’s earned him monikers like ‘Easy Money Sniper’ or ‘Durantula’ over the years. Coming in March, Durant will release a new Nike KD 16 modeled after his sinister alter ego. Check out our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content!
The Nike KD 16 released early 2023 and Kevin Durant has been rocking different iterations all season. They’re one of the more available basketball sneakers on the market right now and KD has been keeping himself laced with a multitude of colorways, including his “Wanda” and “Aunt Pearl” editions. Durant himself will be the theme for his next shoe as the Nike KD 16 gets a “Slim Reaper” makeover, playing into another one of his nicknames.
We’ve seen Durant play into this character before through his sneakers, as the Nike KD 14 features a strap along the laces in the subtle shape of a scythe. However, this will be the first time we see the “Slim Reaper” get his own colorway.
The uppers feature a blood red and black camouflage pattern, immediately giving this a Grim Reaper vibe. The tongue, sockliner, upper accents, and midsole are all dressed in black, but a closer look reveals tiny red splatters throughout the shoe. This version of the KD 16 will feature a chrome support plate the matches the silver piping, Nike Swoosh, and “Slim Reaper” logo on the back. The shoes are finished with an icy blue outsole that features a translucent red design along the soles.
All in all, this is one of the more creative Nike KD 16 colorways we’ve seen and we can’t wait for Durant to lace these up. He’s currently averaging 28.3 PPG and will be making his 14th All-Star appearance upcoming in Indiana. Durant wrote on social media:
“Thanks to the fans, media and most importantly my peers for voting me into my 14th all star game. Can’t wait to lock in and hoop with some of the greatest ever in Indy.”
The Nike KD 16 will be available on March 1, 2024 and will come with a retail tag of $160. They’ll come in full sizing and will be made available on Nike SNKRS app on release date. You can always head over to KICKSCREW following the release to check their full stock of Nike KD sneakers.
